Intesa Sanpaolo has reached an agreement with labor unions to renew its second-level Group contract, effective from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2029. The agreement, building upon previous accords, focuses on enhancing employee welfare, supporting families, and addressing the evolving needs of the workforce in the digital age.

Enhanced Welfare System

The renewed contract strengthens the integrated welfare system through several key provisions:

  • Implementation of the Banca del Tempo (Time Bank).
  • Paid leave for cancer screenings and urgent medical visits.
  • Support for employees with disabilities or those who have minor children and have died in service through the Group's Mutual Aid Society.

These measures aim to promote employee health and well-being.

Pension Benefits

Significant improvements have been made to supplementary pension plans:

  • Employer contribution increased to 4.50%.
  • Employer contribution increased to 6% for employees under 35.
  • Annual contribution of 120 euros for all employees' children up to 24 years old is confirmed.

Increased Meal Allowance

The meal allowance will be increased to 10 euros, providing additional financial support to employees.

Focus on Genitoriality

Support for Young Families

A key focus of the agreement is on measures supporting young families. These include:

  • A birth bonus of 1,200 euros for all newborns.
  • A trial program allowing parents to take up to 12 hours of paid leave per week, or a "very short" work week (4 days x 7.5 hours), after using “breastfeeding” leave and until the child turns 3.
  • Paid leave for visits and check-ups related to assisted reproduction procedures.
  • Leave for assessing a child's disability.
  • Leave to assist children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD).
  • Facilitations for additional absences to assist children up to 6 years old, in addition to existing leave for childbirth preparation courses, nursery, and kindergarten.
  • Confirmation of additional paternity leave beyond legal requirements.

"The measures introduced in this agreement reflect our commitment to supporting our employees in balancing their work and family lives," said a union representative on Friday (December 26).

Digital Transformation Support

Addressing Digital Evolution

The contract also addresses the ongoing digital transformation within Intesa Sanpaolo:

  • Updated allowances for personnel operating within Gtech.
  • Increased compensation for Digital Branch Managers working evening and Saturday shifts to support customers with digital services.

These measures recognize the critical role of employees in facilitating the Group's digital initiatives.

The agreement also includes provisions for supporting parents with children who have special needs. These provisions aim to provide the necessary flexibility and resources to help employees balance their work and family responsibilities.

Strategic Alignment

The agreement establishes a regulatory framework for an advanced welfare system, designed through collaboration with the unions, ahead of the presentation of the 2026-2029 Business Plan. This system integrates Intesa Sanpaolo's own institutions with those regulated by national collective bargaining.
